Is there an easy way to talk with your kids about sex?

I am not looking for specific details, just a brief explanation that my 11 year old daughter can understand. She started her period when she was 10 and it is regular (has been for a year now). What scares me is she likes boys and I hear stories of girls getting pregnant very young.

Sit down and tell the truth. It is time to tell her how it works (she probably already has a good idea from her friends). Make sure you talk about STD's, HIV, and how you get them. Find gross pictures of genitals with STD's on a yahoo image search and show them to her. Explain that sex is for married people, and tell her all the bad things that can happen from sex and getting pregnant. This is not a game--it is your child's life. Suck it up and sit down and calmly explain those things. Start with, "I know you already know a lot of this stuff, but I want to make sure you get the real facts."
